Outer appearance, well chosen outfits and impeccable skin are key for great self-confidence, but there is one more detail to pay attention to when you leave your home and head out: your breath. There are many factors in everyday life that can cause bad breath: many of the foods we eat, the way we brush our teeth, general dental hygiene etc. and the quickest way that comes to mind as to fighting bad breath is a fresh chewing gum! There are other ways to get rid of bad breath though; Mother Nature’s got our backs! There are many natural, yet effective ways to fight bad breath and a lot of them can be found in your kitchen cabinet.
For instance, the herbs used to cook such as basil, mint, rosemary, parsley, thyme etc. are natural deodorizers. Chew a small piece and then swallow it for more freshness.
Another herbal natural ingredient is green tea. It is known for its many useful features, and one of them is to help you get rid of bad breath. The main ingredient in green tea is polyphenol which can also be found in other foods: mushrooms, spinach, apples etc. One cup/item is enough after a meal and you’re all set.
Milk is not only good for a good night’s sleep, but it can also help against bad breath. There’s also yoghurt which is responsible for good digestion, but also for giving freshness to your breath. The reason why is simple: milk contains fat which is good for destroying sulfurs that cause bad breath, but in order to be effective, it must be taken before or during a meal. Yoghurt, on the other hand, helps fight bacteria in the mouth, so a cup or two a day will reduce bad breath on the long run.
This next ingredient is not necessarily edible, but it is widely used in every household for a variety of purposes: baking soda. It is a natural deodorizer, so instead of buying expensive mouthwash, try making it yourself. Mix 1-2 tsp of baking soda in half a cup of water and wash your mouth every morning or after a spicy meal.
Another unusual, but natural ingredient is apple vinegar. Use it to get rid of bad breath by combining one cup of water and half a teaspoon of vinegar. Vinegar contains powerful acid which will kill bacteria in your mouth. The result is fresh breath.
Spices and seeds can also be good allies in the fight against bad breath. Choose cloves or even coffee beans and chew them whole. They have strong smell and flavor, so there’s no harm to try.
Besides all these helpful natural ways to get rid of bad breath, attention must be paid to regular and thorough dental hygiene. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day and a visit to the dentist is mandatory in order to fight dental cavities and other mouth-related problems.
